Additional notes you may need to include when posting:
  • spoilers.
  • creator's notes if there's anything you feel you need to add.
  • for those who want to post a small graphic with their project, do not make it any larger than 250px high x 500px wide.
  • for visual media folks, you must note anything NSFW.
  • for podficcers, be sure to link to text versions of the fics, as well as your downloads.
  • for iconners, four icons max for a preview.
  • for reccers, we are assuming that you have any content notes/etc. in your recs and/or that they are present in the fanworks themselves; if they are not, please note them when you post here.
  • for mixed category creators, we will be contacting you with templates, or you can comment here to receive one.
  • for projects that feature multiple fandoms, we will need a list of all fandoms features so we can tag posts appropriately.
  • for creators who received complements, be sure to link to them in your post, unless they are embedded in your project in which case just be sure to attribute your complementer.
  • if you had them, be sure to acknowledge your beta/cheerleader/etc. in the acknowledgements field!

In terms of how to post the actual links to the project, the links should go at the bottom of your post after all the metadata these templates cover. How you format those is up to your discretion. We prefer if you don't archive your project here, rather in your own journal or some other archive.

If you do not have a Dreamwidth account, we ask that on your posting date you e-mail us all the information we'll need to post for you.

Silly question is perhaps somewhat silly, but I've never participated in a big bang before, so here goes: Do you want us to post our actual projects to the comm, or just a link to them? If the former, how do you want me to handle my Massive Sprawling Fic of Doom, since it, uh. Exceeds the exceedingly generous character limits here at DW?

I've usually done multiple posts for the fic in my journal, then created an index/headers post with links to all of them, also in my journal, then posted a link to the index/header post on the comm. The trick I've done with setting that all up is to make all of the posts private initially, then once it's all done and collated, so to speak, make them all public.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, that clears it up--I just wanted to know whether y'all wanted it posted here or were happy with links back to my fic journal. *wry* I've done multiparter fics before, albeit none that were so huge I broke DW's posting limit.

chuckles* As far as I remember from convos among those of us that are the mods, you'd be posting to your journal and doing the basic link post here. I may be wrong on that, so if another mod steps in and countermands me, that just means I've forgotten something along the way. LOL!

So if you just want links posted here, where do you want them with regard to the formatting? Should the title of the fic be linkified or do you want a piece of hypertext that says "iink" right at the end, or what?

If you're expecting links and are offering full coding for our posts, then you might want to include the coding for the link. Otherwise you'll definitely get different approaches.

Yeah, we were figuring as much -- when generating these I thought about standardizing some way of linking, but there are so many possible options for how people might post that my head started hurting. *g* But you make a good point so I'm going to add a note to the post about linking (with whatever the poster's preferred format) at the end.
