Sign-ups for Round 1 are now CLOSED.
If you are interested in doing beta pinch-hitting, please join our pinch-hitting list, Ladies' BigBang Pinch Hitting. Pinch hits for betas, cheerleading and eventually complements will be announced there.
What is betaing / what are betas signing up to do?
When you sign up to beta, you're offering your beta services through September 1.
Betas offer a pair of eyes to look over a project and offer some sort of feedback/critique on it. Everyone's beta style is unique, so when you get in contact with your creator just let them know what your particular style and strengths/weaknesses are (e.g. "I'm great with catching typos but terrible with grammar"; "I'm good with catching proportion errors but color isn't my strong point").
How you beta is your choice; just let your creator know what your availibility's going to look like (e.g., "I have a two-week turnaround time"; "I prefer if you sent me smaller chunks as you create and I'll get them back to you as soon as possible") and what methods work best for you (e-mail, chat, gdocs, etc.).
If you need to drop out, that's fine, life happens -- just be sure that you let your creator AND us know so that we can touch base with the creator and see if they'd like to go out to pinch hitters.
[[Beta Sign-Up Form]]
Please note:
We cannot guarantee matching on fandom or genre, so please only volunteer in fandoms you feel relatively flexible in.
Also, because this challenge is so multimedia, we really encourage you to consider betaing outside your normal range if you feel comfortable doing so. For example, icon betaing may not be as common as fiction betaing, but we'd like to be able to provide as many of our creators as possible with beats.
Name:
E-mail address:
Categories you're willing to beta for: Art, Icons, Graphics, Picspams, Fanmix, Podfic, Vids, Fiction, Meta, Recs.
Can you offer general (technical betaing that isn't reliant on fandom knowledge, e.g. typo- and grammar-checking) betaing services? You are not required to list fandoms below if you prefer doing general beta work.
Fandoms you can beta for: That is, fandoms you can do content betaing in.
Are you willing to beta for original content? If yes, which categories?
Are you willing to consider betaing mixed media submissions?* It is not binding if you say yes; you're simply offering to consider mixed media projects.
Are you willing to consider betaing categories outside of our primary ones (i.e., different types of creative projects)?* It is not binding if you say yes; you're simply offering to consider betaing other types of creative fanwork.
Do you have any preferences in regards to betaing femmeslash/gen/het? As mentioned, we cannot even come close to guaranteeing matching based on this.
Would you like to be assigned a cheerleader?
* = in this case, you will be contacted with information about what the project is rather than assigned it.
