Link to story: Come With Me, by [personal profile] zabira. The podfic also includes a deleted scene.
Fandom: due South
Pairing: Victoria Metcalf/Benton Fraser
Rating: PG-13
Content Notes/Warnings: Canon-level angst
Length: 1 h 11 min 42 s
Author's summary: Late at night, lying awake listening to the hollow sounds of the sleeping prison, her mind was irresistibly drawn to him.
Acknowledgements: This is the essential Victoria story for me--she's mostly seen through other people's eyes in fic, but in this story she really comes alive. I recorded this story in a lonely cabin above the Arctic circle, and the background sounds during the storm scene are from an actual storm. *g* Thanks to the author for her blanket permission!

Additional notes you may need to include when posting:
  • spoilers.
  • creator's notes if there's anything you feel you need to add.
  • for those who want to post a small graphic with their project, do not make it any larger than 250px high x 500px wide.
  • for visual media folks, you must note anything NSFW.
  • for audioficcers, be sure to link to text versions of the fics, as well as your downloads.
  • for iconners, four icons max for a preview.
  • for reccers, we are assuming that you have any content notes/etc. in your recs and/or that they are present in the fanworks themselves; if they are not, please note them when you post here.
  • for multicategory creators, you can comment here to receive a custom template if the existing ones do no meet your needs.
  • for projects that feature multiple fandoms, we will need a list of all fandoms features so we can tag posts appropriately.
  • for creators who received complements, be sure to link to them in your post, unless they are embedded in your project in which case just be sure to attribute your complementer.
  • if you had them, be sure to acknowledge your beta/cheerleader/etc. in the acknowledgements field!

In terms of how to post the actual links to the project/downloads/etc,, the links should go at the bottom of your post after all the metadata these templates cover. How you format those is up to your discretion. We prefer if you don't archive your project here, rather in your own journal or some other archive.

In the interest of giving our complement pinch hitters more time, we have moved back the posting schedule to start on October 16th. If you see your name on this schedule, that means we have received and verified your final draft. If you sent in a final draft and your name is not on here, and we didn't contact you to let you know why, please email us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail as soon as possible so we can figure out what happened.

If you have any issues with your posting date, also please contact us as soon as possible.

Very soon, we will be granting posting access to creators, so they can make their project posts to this community on their assigned dates. Project posts will include complement links (so creators and complementers, you will need to coordinate that come posting time). Note for complementers: for complementers who will be making separate posts at their own journals/websites/etc., you may post up to four days before your creator's posting date if needed.

For anyone who does not have a Dreamwidth account, please comment to this post or e-mail us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com so we can work something out.

We have a total of 24 projects, with a wide range of fandoms and media represented. We on the mod team would like to express our enormous appreciation for all participants -- cheerleaders, betas, creators and everyone who's supported this challenge in some capacity. So cheers and congratulations all around, and here's to a fabulous 24 days of celebrating women!

As of 0830 PDT today, all final drafts sent to the ladiesbigbang email account have been verified & emails have been sent to those creators. We do have a few people with extensions on turning in their final projects yet. As soon as those last few final drafts are turned in and verified, we'll be making and posting up the posting schedule.

Right now, we do still have 9 creators who haven't gotten any kind of complement. We'd really like to see all of these people get a complement of some sort. Below the cut are all 9 projects, with links to their threads on the ladiesbigbangpinchhitting googlegroup. If you are a member of that group and want to take one of these projects, comment there. Otherwise, comment here and we'll get you in touch with that creator.

A reminder to all participants:

Rough drafts are due today, October 1st, by 11:59pm PST.

We have not answered all final draft e-mails yet, so if you haven't received a verification yet, don't worry. We will be sending responses to all e-mails, though, so if you don't receive one within the next day get in touch with us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com.

STEP 1:

Word documents: save word documents as a .doc or an .rtf, or send us a gdoc.
Graphics: for graphics you have a number of options: you may attach the files in an e-mail, or if you have the files uploaded to a photobucket/scrapbook/etc. you can send us a link, or for larger graphics projects like picspams/icons/etc., you may also take a screencap of your project folder on your computer. Basically, we're trying to verify your amount of content, so screencaps showing the total amount of graphic files on your computer would suffice for that purpose.
Media: for video or audio files, you may attach them to an e-mail if they'll fit, or you can send us a download link(s).
Recs/Resource Lists/Primers: You may send us what you have from the categories above as described, or if you have versions of your project posted access-locked somewhere that you can grant the [personal profile] ladiesbigbangmod account access to, that's also an acceptable way to turn in your rough draft.

STEP 2:

E-mail your content to ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com. Use the following subject line format: "your sign-up name - Final Draft."

Include the following information about your project:

Your e-mail address: your preferred e-mail address.
Creator: the name you signed up under.
Title: if applicable.
Project Category: whichever category you signed up for -- meta, audiofic, icons, fiction, mixed category, etc. If you are mixed category please include the breakdown of your percentages.
Fandom(s):
Complement: received (or you've worked it out with your complementer and will receive it later) / need pinch hit (you were assigned a complementer but haven't received one) / would like to be considered for complement.*
Notes: optional.

* For those of you who did not sign up or were otherwise not eligible for complements, if (this is a big if) we are able to get all other complement pinch hits taken care of, we may do last-minute complement pinch hits for folks who didn't sign up/etc. If you'd like to be included in this, please just put down "would like to be considered for complement."

OTHER INFORMATION TO INCLUDE:

Posting date requests: If for whatever reason you will need a specific posting date, please let us know. We will be unable to determine the full length of the posting period until we have a final count of all projects, but the posting period will begin October 10 and we can roughly estimate that the posting period should last at least two weeks, so through October 24. You can request a specific date but it would be preferable if you requested a range and/or just let us know which date(s) doesn't work for you.

Final drafts are due October 1st, no later than 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time.

We have 15 projects still available for claiming at the Complement Claiming Post. If you're not interested in claiming yourself, please do spread the word! Complements, like projects, may be just about any medium/any type of fanwork.

Because of the nearness of the deadline, if you feel that you could create a complement that may not be ready by the September 27th deadline, let us know and we should be able to work something out.

ETA: Match e-mails have been sent out, so if you didn't receive yours let us know.*

*Except for one -- mitsuhachi, if you could contact us and verify your e-mail address, we would appreciate it.

[[ What is a complement? ]]

A complement is a complementary piece of fanwork for a big bang project. In traditional big bangs, this often translates as an artist creating a complementary piece of artwork for a piece of fanfiction. For the purposes of our panfanwork challenge, complementary fanworks are not limited to artwork/fanmixing/graphics -- a complement may be any type of fanwork.
  • Post is first-come, first-serve basis.
  • No double claiming of projects until all projects are claimed once.
  • You may claim up to three projects.
  • Anyone, whether a [community profile] ladiesbigbang participant up to this point or not, may claim a project.
  • We will not be specifying minimums for complements, but if you feel you'd like some guidance in that area feel free to discuss with your creator or e-mail us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com.
  • A complement may be any medium other than the project medium. (For instance, you wouldn't complement a meta project by writing meta, or complement an icon project by creating icons.) If you and your creator communicate and decide to work out something different, that's okay with us, but for the purposes of this claiming post please only claim projects you feel confident you can complement with a different medium.

[[ Signing up to claim a big bang project ]]

To claim one of the projects, comment with the following information:

The deadline for sending your creator a completed complement is September 27 ETA: because of the nearness of the final drafts due date, if you feel you can create a complement but it won't necessarily be ready by the September 27th deadline, let us know and we can work something out.

As a reminder to creators, the deadline for sending sending in final drafts is October 1st.

A reminder to all participants:

Rough drafts are due today, September 1st, by 11:59pm PST.

Everyone who has sent in a rough draft up to this point should have received an e-mail back, so if you did not receive an e-mail back be sure to re-send your project or comment here so we can figure out what went wrong.

STEP 1:

Word documents: save word documents as a .doc or an .rtf.
Graphics/Pictures: for graphics or photographs of your projects you have a number of options: you may attach the files in an e-mail, or if you have the files uploaded to a photobucket/scrapbook you can send us a link, or for larger graphics projects like picspams/icons/etc., you may also take a screencap of your project folder on your computer. Basically, we're trying to verify your amount of content, so screencaps showing the graphic files on your computer would suffice for that purpose.
Media: for video or audio files, you may attach them to an e-mail if they'll fit, or you can send us a download link(s).
Recs/Resource Lists/Primers: You may send us what you have from the categories above as described, or if you have rough versions of your project posted access-locked somewhere that you can grant the [personal profile] ladiesbigbangmod account access to, that's also an acceptable way to turn in your rough draft.

STEP 2:

E-mail your content to ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com. Use the following subject line format: "[your sign-up name] - Rough Draft." Don't worry if what you're sending us makes sense or not; if we're able to match you up with a complementer, you'll then be responsible for sending your complementer your project; we won't be sending them your rough draft.

Include the following information about your project:

Creator: [the name you signed up under]
Title: [if applicable]
Project Category: [whichever category you signed up for -- meta, audiofic, icons, fiction, mixed category, etc.]
Fandom(s):
Character(s)/Pairing(s): [only primary character(s)/pairing(s) are necessary]
Content Notes:
Rating: [G, PG, PG-13, M, R, NC-17]
Summary: [the goal is to give your complementer a general idea of what your project contains -- please no longer than a few sentences; once your project has been claimed you can send your project to your complementer.]
Notes: [whatever else might be good to know, such as crossover fandoms, spoilers in other fandoms, etc.]
ladiesbigbangmod: "ladiesbigbang: a female-centric panfanwork big bang challenge." (Default)
[personal profile] ladiesbigbangmod
A reminder to all participants:

Rough drafts are due by 11:59 PST on September 1st.

What a "rough draft" means: what you want to keep in mind is two things: 1) meeting the minimum of whatever category you signed up in or at least 90% of the minimum, and 2) having enough content for a complementer to work with.

This is also a reminder that there are no penalties for not turning in a rough draft. Turning in a rough draft has one result: if you are a signed-up participant, you will be eligible to receive a complement. If you are a participant who did not sign up and you turn in a rough draft, you may be eligible to receive a complement depending on how well we do matching up signed-up participants.

If you are not interested in receiving a complement to your project, you have no obligation to turn in a rough draft and you have until October 1 to turn in a completed project.

All complement pinch hits will be doing out on our pinch hitting mailing list, where we welcome all pinch hitters whether you participated in any form or not.

Ladies' Big Bang Round 2 Check-In

Welcome to the check-in post! Checking in is encouraged but not mandatory. You may also use this post to drop out, or you can do so with our dropping out templates.

You may:

- post a summary or small snippet of you work
- celebrate your current progress
- discuss the things you still need to do
- venting/panicking/flailing/etc.
- etc.

Talking amongst yourselves is highly encouraged, as is cheering each other on, and getting off-topic is okay. We do ask that if you have any questions, you use the page a moderator post or e-mail us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com.

Edited to add clarification: Anyone who is creating a project is welcome to check-in, whether or not you signed up.

Today is the last day to sign up for [community profile] ladiesbigbang round 2. Signing up is not necessary to participate, but if you'd like to, they are still open for awhile longer:

Sign-ups for cheerleaders
Sign-ups for betas
Sign-ups for creators

Edited to add: Our ratios of cheerleaders and betas to creators is looking like we may end up short, so we'd like to especially encourage people to sign up as cheerleaders and betas if you're able!

[personal profile] ladiesbigbangmod
This year's sign-ups will be closing on June 30th.

Other housekeeping:
  • We're still looking for volunteers. We'll take any help, so even if all you can spare is an hour or two we'd definitely appreciate it!
  • We have created a Ladies' Big Bang collection on AO3. You may add your projects from the previous rounds to the appropriate subcollections (Round 1, Round 1.5) and the subcollection for round 2 will open when projects begin posting.
  • We have a feed over at LiveJournal for anyone who'd like to follow us over there: [livejournal.com profile] ladiesbigbang.
  • We have a pinch hitting mailing list (subscribe) where we send out pinch hits for betas, cheerleaders, and complements. Anyone, whether a participant or not, is welcome to pinch hit.
ladiesbigbangmod: "ladiesbigbang: a female-centric panfanwork big bang challenge." (Default)
[personal profile] ladiesbigbangmod
If you're interested in volunteering to help out with this round, here are a few of the things we could use help with:

  • Gathering lots of pictures of a wide variety of awesome women. We're working on a project right now where we want to create a database of banners featuring all kinds of women (that is, from varied fannish sources/areas of the world/who are of all different ages, ethnicities, body types, etc.) some of which we'd like to use in a new layout and some of which we'd like to offer up for participant use. There are two ways to help with this project: A) volunteering to research and compile pictures, B) sending in pictures to us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com or you're also welcome to drop links at this post. With option B though, please be aware that we can't guarantee we'll be able to use everything submitted.
  • Signal Boosting and Affiliating. While sign-ups are open we're trying to get word out and affiliate with communities of interest. One of the things we're hoping to achieve this year is increasing the diversity of fanworks represented at this challenge because one of the core values of this challenge is honoring all expressions of fannish creativity, but because people typically associate big bang challenges with solely fiction a lot of people simply don't know that we welcome all types of fanworks. We're keeping a list of places we've signal boosted and to help out you can A) volunteer to signal boost and we can grant you permission to edit that list and figure out where you'd like to signal boost, B) e-mail or comment here with a link of a place you've signal boosted so we can add it to the list. With affiliating, you can A) volunteer to help with affiliations and we'll contact you with our efforts thus far, B) comment at the affiliations post if you have a community that would like to affiliate with us, or you can comment on this post if you have any suggestions for places you think might good for us to affiliate.
  • Assembling an index of chromatic projects. One of the things we'd like to do this year is assemble an index of chromatic projects that we can post over at [community profile] dark_agenda as part of our continual effort to increase the intersectionality of this challenge.
  • [community profile] ladiesbigbangchat. We would love to make the community more of a resource and more fun! Truthfully, we don't have that many great ideas for how to do that, so we're in the market for A) volunteers who'd be interested in organizing some stuff at the community, B) suggestions for how to improve the community.
  • Administrativa. There's some behind the scenes stuff we could use help with, mostly in the form of tagging, link-checking and proofreading.

If you're interested in volunteering for any of the above, please comment with your e-mail address, e-mail us at ladiesbigbang[at]gmail.com or send us a PM. Comments to this post are screened. Your comment can be unscreened if you say it's okay. If you have any other ideas, suggestions, or ways you think you could help out, we'd love to hear that, too!
